Deep, saturated violet held evenly through the body of the crystal, with large well-formed terminations and no visible discolouration. A amethyst, cut & polished from the basalt flows of the Artigas department in northern Uruguay — the material that made "Uruguayan" a description of colour rather than a shipping origin.
