We are the data controller for personal information collected through violetorigin.com. Contact: martin@violetorigin.com
What we collect
When you buy something: name, email, shipping and billing address, phone (if you give it), order contents, and any delivery notes you add.
We never see your card details. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments and PayPal. Your card number reaches them, not us. We see the last four digits and whether it succeeded.
When you join the email list: your email address, and when you subscribed.
When you contact us or request the line sheet: whatever you put in the form — typically name, company, country, website or Instagram, and your enquiry.
Automatically when you browse: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site. Standard web analytics.

We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we have no plans to.
Who we share it with
Only the parties needed to get you your order:
- Shopify — store platform and hosting
- Shopify Payments / PayPal — payment processing
- DHL, FedEx, Correo Uruguayo — shipping and tracking
- Customs authorities in Uruguay and your destination country — legally required for export
- Zoho Mail — our email
- Google Analytics, Meta — aggregate site analytics
- Our accountant — for tax records
We may also disclose information where legally required, or to protect our rights.
International transfers
Your data will be processed in the United States, Uruguay, and wherever our service providers operate. If you're in the EU or UK, this means your data leaves your jurisdiction.
For transfers out of the EEA/UK we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses where our processors offer them.
How long we keep it
- Order records: 7 years (tax and accounting requirements)
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus 30 days
- Enquiries that didn't become orders: 24 months
- Analytics: 14 months
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and you can unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
If you're in the EU or UK, you additionally have the right to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your national data protection authority.
If you're in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do neither), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Email martin@violetorigin.com. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are before acting on a request.
Some data we must keep despite a deletion request — completed order records are required for tax and customs compliance. We'll tell you if that applies and delete everything else.
Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary (cart, checkout, security) and, with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies. You can decline non-essential cookies through the banner and change your mind later. Declining non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to buy.
Marketing emails
Opt-in only. Every email has a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We do not add customers to the marketing list automatically because they bought something.
Transactional emails — order confirmations, shipping notifications — are part of your purchase and continue regardless.
Children
We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Payment data never touches our systems. Our accounts use two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we'll notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
Changes
If we make a material change we'll update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, email subscribers directly.
